Services for Joseph “Patt” Patteeuw, 80, Houghton Lake, are scheduled for 11 a.m. June 28 at St. James Catholic Church, Houghton Lake. Burial in Lake Township Cemetery is to follow the funeral. Mr. Patteeuw died in Farmington Hills June 23, 2003.
Mr. Patteeuw was born in Detroit Sept. 3, 1922, the son of Harry and Emily (Deriemaker) Patteeuw. He was a fighter pilot in World War II. He married Virginia Geisinger Jan 25, 1947. She died in 1989. He married Shirley Kenney, who survives, Jan. 4, 1991. Mr. Patteeuw was a manager at Sears for many years. He moved to Houghton Lake from Detroit in 1978.
Surviving with Mrs. Patteeuw are a son, John Patteeuw of Livonia; three daughters, Janet Vecchio of Livonia, Ann Goci of New Hampshire and Joan Gawrych of Kansas; three stepchildren, Kathryn Seaser of Brighton, Charles Kenney of Howell and Patrick Kenney of West Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Erma Buckman and Evelyn VanDenheede, both of Detroit.
Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel handled arrangements.

Roommates: Lt. Joseph A. "Pat" Patteeuw 336 was from Detroit, Michigan. Pat worked for the U.S. Postal Service after he completed his tour of duty during WWII with the 4th Fighter Group and left the service. While writing his book, LOST LEGACY, Conrad Netting IV interviewed Patteeuw in the early 1990s. Pat had been a close friend of Conrad's father, a 4th FG pilot who had been KIA. Patteeuw said he had seven roommates at Debden and could not fathom why he survived the war and others did not.
